Map Reading & Land Navigation Training Camp

Induction Climb Preparation in NEUST Eco Park

Our organization conducted a two-day training event on September 17-18, 2022 which unlocked new levels of knowledge and skills to equip our 2022 aspiring members – batch Kamagong in preparation for their upcoming induction climb. The said training was held at NEUST Eco Park Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija

Day 1

The participants learned about the basic map reading terminologies, familiarized themselves with the cardinal directions, scaling grid squares, and locating/plotting grid coordinates on the map with the help of measuring tools like ruler, protractor, paper strip and how to use the Lensatic compass with application to various Navigational paper activities.

Day 2

Participants were divided into 4 groups to assess what they learned by application through actual simulation. They were also given the task to locate two POIs (Point of Interests) and were sent out to search the entire NEUST Eco-Park in Gabaldon. All 4 groups managed to locate the given coordinates and finished off with big smiles during their photo ops and awarding of certificates.

In Conclusion

We would like to extend our utmost gratitude and congratulations to all members, aspirants and guest participants who all gave their best and show their support during the 2 days training camp!

Special thanks also to 1Lt Erwin Juan B. Fe’ (PA) and Sgt Alvin P Razon (PA) for facilitating our training!

There will be more trainings and courses similar or related to mountaineering that NEBMCI will organize because we have quite a lot of majestic mountains that we can explore in Nueva Ecija. Make sure to also follow us on our Facebook Page for more activity updates.
